Yes... it all sounds so idyllic. You can lead these photogs to water, but can you really make them "drink the kool aid?"

I have been at this photo game a long time and have been involved with groups like ASMP, EP, TOPA, and others (akin to herding cats). I have had photogs look me in the eye and thank me for the "business 101" seminar I just gave them only to have them cave in to bad contracts and low rates right afterwards.

Teaching photogs the right process for contract negotiation, licensing fee determination, paperwork basics, and the like is a great start. But who is gonna give them the backbone to say "NO" when they need to.

Too many photogs want a foot in the door or to not lose a client or some other lame ass excuse that they will not back up their words with actions. I applaud the ASMP for holding these events but I am really worried that there will be next to no follow-through.

This was a great weekend with a lot of great info. We're planning to integrate a lot of the things learned over the weekend, and John, thanks so much for your openness and sharing. Will be getting some rest now, but as an attendee I'd like to put in my recommendation for others to attend SB2. I've attended many seminars and presented as well, but this was one of the most useful.

Dang...

I should have done that interview... Maybe I'd be a little more famous now. :)

Thanks for the great info John!

Steve --

I did come to you at your table first, and Daniel and Oscar were happy to oblige!

Seriously though, thanks for your pointed questions and inquiries at the event, they made good points of discussion.

Cheers,
John

Fantastic event John. I can't tell you how much I got out of your presentation and mini-workshop. Over all it was fantastic and I had to write up a review on my blog. Great video and interviews. I knew from the quality of material covered I'd not be alone in my praise of the event... so the video taped interviews are far from a surprise.

Thanks again!
Jim
